Katmai National Park and Reserve gives a rare glimpse of brown bears close up in the wild. The site is a passage for sockeye salmon returning from the ocean, to the grounds of Lake Brooks. Brown bears are known to gather during the salmon runs in July and September to feed on the plentiful fish.
